About Me
This is Jenann Elias' work journal (yes that's me). I'm a 20-something student who attended Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska. I graduated in May 2008 with a degree in Journalism, Literature, and Writing and Speaking (and a minor in Religion).

I love to read and write, and I pretend to be an avid photographer. I enjoy playing with graphic design and editing software, and I like nature and animals quite a bit (I have two cats currently). I also like craft-y things like scrapbooking and creating my own clothes.

About my Work
I most recently interned as an assistant editor for the 2008 edition of The Sand Canyon Review, a literary and arts journal being published out of the Inland Empire in California. Before that I worked for Christian Record Services, an organization that provides reading materials to the visually impaired.

About this Journal
This journal was created to document my progress at work, the things I learn, as well as to force me to remember to write (at least a little bit) each day. Primary purpose was for my internship requirement for my Journalism Practicum course at Union College.

Commenting and Viewing
The majority of my journal posts will be public, so you don't need to have a LiveJournal account to read my posts. If you want to comment, you'll need to create an account. It's free though, so why not?

I worked on writing a news brief about macular degeneration and antioxidants (Archives of Ophthalmology, Oct. 2001 issue). Apparently an increase in certain antioxidants can "reverse" and prevent macular degeneration in many cases. My grandmother has macular degeneration, so this is especially interesting to me.

It's a little old though, to be considered news. But still very interesting.

I'm working on some of those Bible promises here at home, wanted to document some hours...I've been reading this book all day and writing down quotes I like. I'd like to do my own book like this someday! This is by far my favorite thing I've worked on here at Christian Record.

Worked about 4 hours or so.

I guess the voice-work I did yesterday inflamed my tonsils, but I'm trying to work on a devotional for today...x_x Let's see if I can get it posted...

Edit: I got it up!

Today I got to do some recording with a group in the studio.
It was about the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.

Mike Mennard played Jesus, I was a servant girl near the courts, and part of the mob.

I couldn't stay that long because my tonsils are still messed up, and voice-work isn't exactly helping. :( Sad too, because doing work in the recording studio is FUN.

I'm sick today....my tonsils are swollen and I can't breathe or swallow or EAT. :(
I think I'm going to work on some of my editing papers here at home, that way I can still get some work done...

Edit: yaay, I accomplished some re-writes.

A new week, and a new month. Yes I know I worked one day last week in February, but it was only ONE day at the end of a week.

My tonsil (just the right one) is killing me--I think it is infected again, which makes eating and talking kinda painful.

I'm working on a news-brief about Monster.com and hireds.com joining forces to create the ultimate job-search site for persons with disabilities. AWESOME.

Also finishing up a devotional, and some work on a Bible promises project.

WARG! I had to come in to work today, even tough I'm not feeling all that well, and I have a MensaLink that has to be printed and SENT OUT today. o_o ARRGH! This is hard.

Today I did manage to post one devotional to the website, and continued my work on the "promises" book. I might take some of this home with me this weekend and get some extra work done.

They are going to publish a book of Bible promises here, and today I get to go through the manuscript, see if there are verses "left out."

I'm also comparing our TOC and different topics from another "promises"-type book to see if we could change some things for the better. This could be interesting.

Working on some reading/editing at school. I didn't go IN to work today, I was swamped with schoolwork to do. :| Double-dipping here at the library.

I'll be finished in about 20 minutes or so.
